Peruvian Explorer Add-ons:
Hike the Inca Trail

Add four extra nights to our Peruvian Explorer trips and hike one of the most beautiful trails in the world. We cover a little over 26 miles in these four days and the trek takes us along raging rivers, through a cloud forest, and over spectacular mountain passes (the highest one at 13,750 ft.). Along the way, we visit ruins and restored Inca sites. All camping gear is carried by our porters, leaving us free to carry only a light day pack. Each day we enjoy the changing landscape and scenery, stopping midday for a welcome hot lunch and rest, before resuming our hike. Each night we camp in “style,” enjoying a post-hike snack and a delicious fresh-cooked dinner. The trek climaxes as we watch the sun rise over Machu Picchu, from Initpunku, the Gate of the Sun. We then explore the ancient city. On our final night we stay in a hotel in the town of Aguas Calientes, where we can relax and visit the hot mineral springs, or return to Machu Picchu for another look, before returning to Cusco on the famous scenic train ride.

What's included: Transportation to the trail head, all meals during the hike, tents and sleeping bags, admission fees, hotel accommodations at Aguas Calientes, train to Cusco, porters, cook, English-speaking guide.
