This trip begins with a flight from Lima to Puerto Maldonado, located
on the Tambopata River in the Amazon Basin. From here we travel
two hours upriver by boat to the rustic Posada Amazonas Lodge,
where we spend the night. We watch for birds and other wildlife
as we hike through the lush rainforest. The next morning we continue
our journey upriver to the remote Tambopata Research Center,
where we spend the next two nights. In the mornings and afternoons
we hike through beautiful rain forests, cruise to remote areas,
and observe and photograph the many birds and animals that inhabit
this equatorial region. Then we return to the Posada Amazonas
for our final night, before departing early in the morning for
Puerto Maldonado and our flight to Cusco or Lima.
